Heisman Trophy Candidate No. 1: Bryce Young, QB, Alabama

Alabama’s young quarterback has had some impressive performances this season but none were better than what he did against Tennessee on Saturday night.

The Crimson Tide certainly weren’t playing their best and could have been in trouble if not for a truly magical showing from Young, who completed 31 of 43 passes (72.1 percent) for 371 yards and two touchdowns, as well as zero interceptions.

On top of that, Young ran the ball 10 times for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Young tied the game with a touchdown run and then threw a touchdown pass to put the Tide ahead after falling behind.

Eventually, Alabama beat Tennessee by 18. For the season, Young ranks in the top six nationally in passing yards, touchdowns, and fewest interceptions. He’s second in the country in touchdown passes and third in QBR.

Alabama is off this week but Young is the frontrunner and if he keeps playing well after back-to-back games over 350 yards passing,  and the Tide keeps winning — he’ll be hard to beat.
