College Football Week 9: After dark

UCLA at Utah, 10 PM EST, ESPN

People love to discount Utah and Kyle Wittingham and they might be doing it again after the Utes suffered a bad loss to Oregon State last week.

Utah has three losses this season by a combined 19 points and two of them were to ranked teams in San Diego State and BYU. UCLA has also not delivered in big games this season, outside of LSU, but still sits one game back in the Pac-12 South.

This is a must-win for Chip Kelly and Utah, and it’s enough of a reason to stay up late.

Fresno State at San Diego State, 10:30 PM EST, CBS Sports Network

Few would have predicted San Diego State to be undefeated at this juncture but what can you say, Brady Hoke just has a feel for wining in San Diego.

The Aztecs upset Utah in overtime and haven’t lost. Last week, they survived against Air Force and this week enters 6-2 Fresno State which can move into a tie for first in the Mountain Division of the Mountain West with a win.

Jake Haener who has thrown for over 2,500 yards and 22 touchdowns this season is also worth watching in a big-time Mountain West matchup that will run well past midnight on the East Coast.
