Week 8 Status: Lost 32-34 vs Fresno State

Nevada lost a close one to Fresno State last week, despite an amazing performance from quarterback Carson Strong. The junior made the case that he’s one of the best quarterbacks in all of the college football against the Bulldogs. He finished the game 49 of 61 for 476 yards and 4 touchdowns. Two of their final five games are against SDSU and Air Force, so the Wolfpack will need to shake off the loss and get to work.

Week 8 Status: Won 30-27 vs No. 14 Coastal Carolina

Appalachian State used a 30 to 13 run to upset a top-ranked conference foe in Coastal Carolina last week. The Mountaineers were certainly aided by their sold-out crowd—one of the best home-field advantages among any team in the Sun Belt Conference. Let’s see if the Mountaineers have a winning hangover against UL-Monroe this week or make another statement.

Week 8 Status: Won 39-38 vs Central Michigan

Northern Illinois Head Coach Thomas Hammock successfully righted the ship after starting the season 1-2. His Huskies won a thriller against Central Michigan, coming down to the final seconds when Central Michigan botched the snap on a game-winning field goal attempt. Northern Illinois is without a doubt the best team in the MAC. The Huskies get a well-deserved break before facing Kent State Nov. 3.

Week 8 Status: Lost 14-20 vs San Diego State

How can you not root for these student-athlete-servicemen? Air Force has been playing great football this season. Their two losses have been by a combined seven points. Their defense is some of the best in the Mountain West, holding all of their opponents to 17 points or fewer in every game except Utah State. The Falcons have a Bye this week and will use it to prepare for their rivalry game against Army.

Week 8 Status: Won 21-19 vs Washington State

BYU came this close to losing their third-straight game, but they escaped Washington State by two points. The BYU faithful can avoid hitting the panic button. BYU’s Tyler Allgeier had an epic performance against BYU with 32 carries for 191 yards and two touchdowns. BYU escaped, but there is no reprieve just yet as they have a very tough game against Virginia this week.
