2. Bo and the receivers continue to improve

“This is the Year. Bo Nix has improved so much under this new offense. He is focused. He’s having fun. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a dark horse for the Heisman.”

This quote has turned into a bit of a meme on Twitter, but so much of it is true. He keeps improving so much every game. With each big pass he throws, you can see and feel the confidence coming off him. Even when it seems there is no chance of winning a game you would never know it from Bo. He never quits until the very last second is over.

Roger McCreary admitted that they often talk trash to Nix to mentally prepare him for games. We all know as a quarterback the mental toughness is one of the biggest attributes a quarterback can hold. They have to be the leaders in all aspects of the game.

"“It’s all mental, all about how he thinks before the game, how he comes into practice-where his mentality is.” McCreary said about Nix. “As a defense we try to like, pressure him mentally. We try to make him stronger. We try to get in his head so that, in a real game, it would be nothing to him. I feel like it’s all about the head for him. If he’s got the proper focus before the game, he will execute in the game.”"

Intelligent and true words spoken by Roger McCreary. It’s also great to see every member of this team supporting each other and going the extra mile to make everyone better.

There were not huge numbers against Arkansas for the receiving core but they did do much better catching passes. Demetris Robertson had the best day of them all catching two receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown. Shedrick Jackson caught five passes for 61 yards. Ja’Varrius Johnson added a touchdown of his own on 39 yards.

I too have had my doubts about Nix earlier on, yet week after week he keeps proving people wrong including myself. He has more tenacity and toughness than I ever thought coming out of last year. He will need that toughness with Texas A&M and Alabama coming up soon. If he has success with them the sky is the limit for Auburn.

They will continue moving things in the right direction. Bo has a handful of talented receivers. New ones are stepping up every game. It’s not always say the same guy or normal consistency but Bo will find a way to get them the ball. Demetris Robertson now leads all receivers with 312 yards and three touchdowns on the season. Kobe Hudson will also be hungry looking for his 300th yard, which he is only four yards away from.

Bo knows to win in this game he has to get his receivers more productive and more confident. He will do that. The more experience this guy gets under his belt the better he is. He’s never going to wow you with numbers, where is going to wow you with is exciting clutch third down plays.

The plays that matter when the game is on the line, when the pressure is as high as it could be. Making plays that eight out of 10 quarterbacks can’t make. That is a guy you want leading your team when it counts the most.
