10. Wake Forest (8-0)

Week 9 result: Defeated Duke 45-7

A week after giving up 56 points, Wake Forest’s defense regrouped and shut down Duke this week. The starters did not allow a single point. It wasn’t until garbage time where the Blue Devils were able to get a score.

That’s a good sign for the Demon Deacons who need to improve on that side of the ball. They never struggle to put up their own points and were fine in that regard once again.

You can’t say enough good things about Sam Hartman who continues to impress every single week. He had 400 more passing yards in this one along with five total touchdowns. Hartman is quietly playing his way into the Heisman conversation. He is now the 4th highest-graded quarterback in the country according to PFF with a season grade of 92.1.

Wake Forest is one of six remaining undefeated teams, but we will see how long that lasts. They are about to enter by far the toughest stretch of their schedule. Believe it or not, they are currently the underdog in each of their next 3 games.

Next game: vs North Carolina

My prediction: Lose 45-48
