5. Michigan State (8-0)

Week 9 result: Defeated Michigan 37-33

We finally have a Heisman front runner 9 weeks into the season. We’ve been waiting on someone to separate themselves from the pack and I believe Kenneth Walker III did just that on Saturday vs the Wolverines. He had over 200 total yards and 5 rushing touchdowns against one of the best defenses in the entire country. Are you kidding me??

That is absolutely insane and is the type of performance that can win you the Heisman. This was definitely the best game of the week and was way more high scoring than anybody had predicted.

The Spartans looked deflated at one point when they were down by 16 in the 3rd quarter. But they were resilient and fought their way back riding on the back of Walker III. Even though they allowed 33 points, their defense came up big in the end with a game-sealing interception by cornerback Charles Brantley.

Michigan State is now the only undefeated team left in the Big 10. In addition to having the Heisman front runner, they may also have the coach of the year favorite too in Mel Tucker.

Next game: vs Purdue

My prediction: Win 21-20
