This season, Tyler Van Dyke’s play may have Miami fans wondering why D’Eriq King has played at all this season. In coach Manny Diaz’s defense, King was the veteran who solidified the position last season but had an unfortunate injury in the bowl game.

Miami finds itself with an outside shot at the Coastal after consecutive wins against Pitt and NC State. The Hurricanes would have to win out and need some chaos to happen. Keep in mind; this is the Coastal, and confusion happens all of the time.

Florida State lost to Clemson after winning three games in a row. The Tigers found a running game, and the Seminoles could not. The ‘Noles are not a difficult team to figure out schematically. They want to run the football. When they can’t run, then the offense sputters.

Defensively, the Seminoles have allowed over 350 yards of offense in every game save one. Florida State has a ways to go but is playing better. They try to get back on track against North Carolina State this weekend.

Was Virginia Tech’s win against Georgia Tech enough to save head coach Justin Fuente’s job? Time will tell. The Fuente-Virginia Tech saga is one of the most intriguing storylines in the ACC this year. It is a possibility the Hokies win three of their last four (or all four).

However, ‘Tech finished 44th in recruiting and is 19th right now. That is after a 76th ranked class in 2020. Not to mention the rash of transfers that are playing well elsewhere. Keeping or firing Fuente could be a direction of the program decision for the Hokies.
