Mark Stoops, Kentucky HC

This wouldn’t be an easy hire for Nebraska football to make. Mark Stoops already coaches in the SEC and has built a pretty successful program at Kentucky.

However, after nine seasons, has he done everything he can at UK? It’s going to be hard to win an SEC East title with the likes of Georgia and Florida in the same division as you, especially when you coach at a clear basketball school.

And with Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss, the Rebels are on the rise, plus Tennessee is starting to look competent again. The point is, Stoops has been great at Kentucky but he might be ready for a new challenge, and with the right coach, Nebraska can still be a great job.

Nebraska would need to give him a hefty pay raise but that shouldn’t be an issue. He played at Iowa and was actually a high school football coach in Ohio, where his family has ties.

For all those reasons and his defensive-minded approach, he would be great in the Big Ten. I’m sure he’d probably leave Kentucky for the Iowa job, but maybe Nebraska can entice him.

dark. Next. The Adrian Martinez experiment needs to end

He would be a great fit and truly, any of the five coaches on this list should be able to turn things around, although to be fair, Frost seemed like a home run too.
