College Football 2021: 3 under-the-radar games to watch in Week 10
By Shane Lunnen
1. UTSA at UTEP
Another Conference USA matchup in College Football Week 10 that could be its last with UTSA set to join the American Athletic Conference. At least it appears to be a solid last game between UTSA and UTEP. The Roadrunners lead the all-time series 6-2 while winning the last four games.
UTSA should feel disrespected. They were left out of the College Football Playoff rankings while being 8-0, one of six undefeated teams left in FBS. The Roadrunners are ranked 16th in the AP poll and 18th in the Coaches, but the CFP committee completely ignored them.
Their eight wins match the most wins in school history for the Road Runners, although this is only their 11th season of playing football. They are led by quarterback Frank Harris and running back Sincere McCormick. With those all-star players leading the way, the Road Runners are putting up nearly 40 points per game while ranking in the top 20 in points allowed with 18.8 per game.
UTEP is coming off their second loss of the season, a three-point defeat to FAU. Still, the Miners are bowl eligible for the first time since the 2014 season.
UTEP’s defense will need to step up to slow down Harris and McCormick. They have only been giving up 20 points per game but with UTSA scoring nearly double that output, it will be a challenge for the Miners.
UTEP looks to be the toughest test yet for the Road Runners. I haven’t had the chance to watch any of UTSA games to date so looking forward to checking this one out late Saturday night.
