1. The Scott Frost hot seat talk can continue.

There is an important question when talking about Scott Frost being on the coaching hot seat. What aspect of the Nebraska program has improved? The recruiting has been okay but not stellar. Nebraska has been in the lower teens to around 20 in Frost’s tenure.

That’s not bad, but the development of players has been poor. Adrian Martinez has not taken the next step in his development as a passer. Martinez is streaky and inconsistent through four quarters of a football game and can be careless with the football at times.

Three of Frost’s best recruits, Wan’Dale Robinson, J.D. Spielman, and Luke McCaffery, transferred elsewhere. Maurice Washington, Andre Hunt, and Katerian LeGrone were dismissed from the team.

The player development just hasn’t been there either. Even if the Huskers aren’t bringing in blue-chip players, Nebraska’s facilities are second to none, and players are not getting bigger, faster, or stronger. It was evident in this game that Nebraska had no one to go to when it was on the line.

Samori Toure got loose on one big play but had just four receptions. Contrast that with the game his counterpart Jaxon Smith-Njigba had. No one could cover him.

Don’t be fooled by the close losses; the program is not trending in the right direction.
