1. TCU football played as though it wanted it more

Today meant more to the Horned Frogs. That is not to say that Baylor played like they did not want to be there. With head coach Gary Patterson not on the sidelines for the first time in over 20 years in Fort Worth, the players he recruited wanted to honor him with a win.

When Chandler Morris appeared to be stopped for a loss, he broke a tackle and ran first down. That play is an example of the many gritty plays the Horned Frogs made during the game. Wide receiver Quinten Johnston was Morris’ favorite target.

Johnston had five receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown. Morris did spread the wealth, however, completing passes to 10 different wide receivers. The defense was not stellar, but they found ways to make plays when the team needed them most.

Late in the fourth quarter, TCU kicker Griffin Kell missed a field goal that would have put the game away for the Frogs. On the ensuing drive, defensive back Shadrach Banks intercepted the Gerry Bohanon pass to seal the game.

The only people who know how and why Gary Patterson was asked to leave at this point in the season are Gary Patterson, the athletic director, and president. No matter why the Horned Frogs played for their coach today.
