2. Jeff Traylor, UTSA

If there was ever a no-brainer to include on this list it’s Jeff Traylor of Texas-San Antonio. By now, everyone knows the story of UTSA’s incredible story.

This team literally did not exist 10 years ago. The Roadrunners played their first ever football game Sept. 1, 2012.

Traylor is UTSA’s third-ever head coach. He’s in his second season and has the team playing the best football in program history. The team is 9-0 and ranked No. 15 in the AP Top 25 college football rankings.

UTSA has never won nine games in a season before. They’ve never been ranked before. Traylor has done an incredible job recruiting, building a formidable staff and setting the tone culturally.

Traylor has been on a lot of team’s list who are searching for a new head coach, but UTSA was wise to give him a raise and sign him to a long-term contract extension.

Because of that, UTSA and Traylor aren’t set up for a great single season, they have an incredibly bright future ahead of them.

Even if Traylor and UTSA lose a game this season, he deserves heaps of praise for creating something special in San Antonio.
