Wake Forrest makes a statement

One of the most intriguing games on Saturday is Wake Forest making the trip to Clemson. The Tigers are 7-3 and actually still alive in the ACC Atlantic Division.

If the Tigers win on Saturday and Wake Forest then drops its season finale against Boston College, the Tigers would advance to the ACC title game.

So Clemson has plenty to play for and welcoming 10th-ranked Wake Forest to Death Valley should make for a fun atmosphere. The Demon Deacons just dropped a game against North Carolina on the road and the defense is far from a juggernaut.

Clemson, meanwhile, has the ACC’s best defense. That will keep the Tigers in the game but at some point, you need your quarterback to make plays and Sam Hartman of Wake Forest is just light years ahead of D.J. Uiagalelei who is completing only 55 percent of his throws and averaging 5.8 per attempt which is terrible.

Hartman is a Heisman candidate and a win against Clemson would only serve to boost his campaign. And even though the Tigers aren’t who they used to be, a win for Wake Forest could help the Demon Deacons in the playoff race, assuming there is a little chaos.

It won’t be easy and I expect a tight game but it’s been that kind of season for Wake Forest which clinches an ACC title game berth with a win in Death Valley.
