5 things we learned in Week 12 of College Football
The Heisman is a two-horse race
C.J. Stroud was the toast of College Football Week 12 following his 397-yard, six-touchdown first half against Michigan State that included just two incompletions.
The fact that Stroud did that against the seventh-ranked team in the country surely put Heisman Trophy voters on notice and in his last six games, he’s thrown a ridiculous 28 touchdown passes compared to just two interceptions. He’s also thrown for over 300 in each.
But Bryce Young took the field and was also spectacular in a win over Arkansas. He threw five touchdown passes and set the Crimson Tide’s single-game record with 559 yards as Alabama clinched the SEC West championship.
Kenneth Walker of Michigan State might still get an invite to New York, but his campaign for the Heisman is over. So is Matt Corral’s.
This is down to Young and Stroud.
Stroud has Michigan and the Big Ten title game if the Buckeyes win in Ann Arbor Saturday, while Young gets Auburn and then Georgia.
Both have chances to impress voters and make their final impressions. It’s one of the most exciting Heisman Trophy races in recent memory and like the College Football Playoff selections, it will all come down to the next two weeks.
