Heisman Trophy watch 2021: Top 4 contenders heading into Week 13

2021 Heisman Trophy Candidate No. 3: Kenneth Walker III, RB, Michigan State

Kenneth Walker’s Heisman hopes peaked when he led the Spartans to a win over Michigan and scored five rushing touchdowns in the process.

However, losses to Purdue and last weekend to Ohio State have all but eliminated Walker from true Heisman Trophy contention.

Ohio State got up big on the Spartans last Saturday and Michigan State gave the ball to Walker just six times, which makes no sense. MSU should have been trying to play keep away and fed Walker the ball but it didn’t and was beaten 56-7.

That’s not really something you can recover from. The Spartans can still reach a New Year’s Six bowl game with a win over Penn State on Saturday and my guess is that Walker puts together one more big game to put a stamp on a stellar season.

Walker should be in New York but he won’t win the Heisman Trophy.
