Ranking the 25 worst games of past Heisman trophy winners: 7. Derrick Henry

  • 2015 Season stats: 2,219 rushing yards, 28 rushing touchdowns
  • Worst game: 52 rushing yards, 1 touchdown

When you look at running back Derrick Henry in the NFL today, he looks completely unfair. He runs over defenders, bullies them, trucks them, and even at times, runs right by them. Simply put, he’s bigger, faster, and better than everyone that lines up against him on the other side of the field. At the University of Alabama, it was the exact same way.

When the 2015 college football schedule was released, no one on Alabama circled a midseason matchup against Louisiana-Monroe. But maybe they should’ve. Despite winning only two games that season, they found a way to put the clamps on Henry.

Though he rushed for 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns that year, little known UL Monroe held him to 52 rushing yards and only one score. So how in the world did a team that failed to do much of anything that season manage to stop the 2015 Heisman Trophy winner? We really aren’t sure. That’s a question that no one will ever know the answer to.
