Ranking the 25 worst games of past Heisman trophy winners: 4. Bo Jackson

  • 1985 Season stats: 1,786 rushing yards, 17 touchdowns
  • Worst game: 48 rushing yards, 0 touchdowns

Is there anyone who’s considered more legendary than running back Bo Jackson?

Throughout his time at Auburn University, he was known for running right over defenders. During the 1985 season, unlike most names on this list, Jackson and his Auburn Tigers didn’t have a ton of success, finishing the season with an 8-4 record. With that said, Jackson did his thing that year.

The immensely talented running back rushed for 1,786 yards and 17 touchdowns. Stopping him was nearly impossible. Well, except for when he played against Florida that season.

Jackson was terrible that game, there’s simply no way around it. He carried the ball 16 times for 48 yards and zero touchdowns. Unsurprisingly, Auburn went on to lose the game, although it was a tight one, by a score of 14-10.

During the game, it didn’t matter what Jackson tried to do. When he attempted to blast his way up the middle, he found himself eating grass. When he tried to go around defenders and outrun them, he was easily caught and dragged back down to the turf again. It was simply a horrific performance for a player who had a really great season.
