NCAAF: Ranking the 25 worst games of past Heisman trophy winners
Ranking the 25 worst games of past Heisman trophy winners: 1. Herschel Walker
- 1982 Season stats: 1,752 rushing yards, 16 touchdowns
- Worst game: 20 rushing yards, 0 touchdowns
Running back Herschel Walker kept getting closer and closer.
In 1980, his first season at Georgia, he rushed for 1,616 yards and 15 touchdowns but would settle for third place in the Heisman Trophy voting, despite his squad finishing the year with a 12-0 record.
Walker got even closer in year two after rushing for 1,891 yards and 18 touchdowns. Finally, in year three, Walker took home the award with 1,752 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.
Although he was a horse in college, Walker had the worst game for a Heisman Trophy winner. In a low scoring showdown against Clemson, Walker was fed the ball 11 times but not only did he fail to bang his head on the goal post but he only racked up 20 yards.
There has been a ton of awful games by Heisman Trophy winners over the years but by far, Walker’s game against Clemson was the worst when compared to the rest of his peers.
