Ranking the 25 worst games of past Heisman trophy winners: 20. Lamar Jackson

  • 2016 Season stats: 3,543 passing yards, 30 passing touchdowns, 1,571 rushing yards, 21 rushing touchdowns
  • Worst game: 211 passing yards, 33 rushing yards

It doesn’t matter what year you decide to go back to, you’ll have a hard time finding a player who was more fun to watch than Lamar Jackson. It didn’t matter if Louisville was getting blown out by a million points, Jackson was going to give the fans their money’s worth.

In 2016, Louisville spent a ton of time on the wrong end of a few blowout losses. They were punished by Houston, losing by 26 points. They then wrapped up their season with a 20 point loss to LSU.

Winning a National Championship was never going to happen but Jackson did more than enough to bring home the Heisman Trophy. He finished his sophomore season with 3,543 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, 1,571 rushing yards, and 21 more scores on the ground. Simply put, there was nothing you could do to stop him.

Well, actually, that statement isn’t true. Jackson wasn’t his specular self during Louisville’s loss to Houston. Not only did they get blown out by 26 but Jackson ended the game with just 211 passing yards and completed less than 50% of his passes. Also, Houston completely shut down Jackson on the ground as he ran for only 33 yards.

Maybe if the rest of the college football world paid more attention to this game, Jackson wouldn’t have toyed with everyone else that season.
