2. Freeman is one of the nation’s best recruiters

One of the criticisms that have been made about the Notre Dame football job is that they are not capable of recruiting on the level of Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, or Clemson.

Brian Kelly was a solid recruiter and developed talent well during his time in South Bend, but could not get to that next level.

Currently, 247Sports has Marucs Freeman ranked third in the nation’s top recruiter rankings. That is very impressive and is a big reason why the Fighting Irish has a top-five class for next season.

For this move to pay off, Freeman is going to have to keep recruiting to this level and take Notre Dame to the next level. I think that is a realistic expectation for Notre Dame fans to have, but it is up to Freeman to deliver on that potential.
