Independence Bowl: UCF Knights vs Utah State Aggies

Sports Illustrated projects UCF to compete in the Independence Bowl against a resurgent Utah State football team.

Led by one of the hottest coaches in the Group of Five, Blake Anderson, he has Utah State competing for the Mountain West Conference championship.

Utah State loves to throw the ball, so UCF’s passing defense will be tested. Normally they give up around 215 yards per game through the air. The Aggies record almost 100 more yards per game than that.

Malzahn vs Anderson, great passing vs great running — this would be an exciting bowl game matchup for these two teams in Shreveport, La.

If Utah State can knock off San Diego State in their championship game, it may open them up to a more elevated bowl game opportunity, so you may want to keep an eye on that Mountain West Conference Championship game taking place Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. on Fox.
