Advantages

Seattle is a major selling point for Washington and the greater Seattle metro area has grown as a place where schools can recruit quality football players. Seven top-100 players have come from that area in 2020, 2021, and 2022 classes.

A coach who thrives on recruiting has an opportunity to keep those players in the area.

Washington has arguably the best fan base in the Pac-12. Husky Stadium is the loudest stadium in the conference when Washington is playing well. The Huskies and Seahawks share fans very well in the Pacific Northwest. Husky Stadium has undergone renovations recently as well.

The ceiling at U-Dub is high; they are the last Pac-12 team with a College Football Playoff appearance. This job is a heavy lift with a high yield for the right coach.

Disadvantages

The Huskies are behind in facilities in contrast to division rival Oregon. The Ducks plan to have a new indoor facility by 2024. Washington has not upgraded any of its facilities since 2007. The Ducks also opened a football-only facility in 2013; Washington does not have a football-only facility.

Washington has to get the majority of its recruits from California despite the Seattle/Tacoma area producing more Power Five level players. The Huskies are often the third option behind USC and Oregon.

Kids are not staying local to play football. Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and LSU are some of the schools taking talent away from the area. That has a lot to do with Washington being behind in recruiting infrastructure as well.
