College Football 2021: Bold predictions for each Power 5 title game
By Austin Lloyd
SEC: Georgia will beat Alabama like a drum
All but one of these hot takes have essentially predicted a blowout, but considering that all but one of these games are currently expected to be nail-biters, that means we’re doing something right. So why stop now?
You did not misread that heading: I believe that the Alabama Crimson Tide are at high risk of getting thrown around by the Georgia Bulldogs. And if anyone feels the desire to object to that statement, my sole question would be: Why?
Folks have tried to justify Bama’s struggles by calling them a “young team” and stuff like that, but just say it for what it is: The Tide are not looking the part, plain and simple. This program has never needed an all-veteran squad to succeed, so let’s not pretend that that’s a thing now just because they’re underperforming.
Meanwhile, Georgia just might have the best team they’ve ever had, assuming that they manage to win it all this season. Their defense can stop anyone, anywhere, and their offense has been good enough to pile on the scores all year long, so what are the chances that both of those groups just fall apart this weekend?
These two are yet to play one another this season, so we have no direct clue as to how each squad will look in this environment. However, what we do have is how they’ve each looked against shared opponents, and the results just about speak for themselves.
The Bulldogs won’t manage to put up some outrageous amount of points, and the Tide won’t fall out early. After four quarters, though, everyone will see who the new face of the SEC is.
Score: Georgia 37, Alabama 20
