Michigan Football: 3 reasons Wolverines will win 2021 Big Ten title
2. Michigan has a much more potent offense than Iowa
Michigan’s defense gets a lot of the spotlight, but it’s the Wolverines’ offense that has allowed them to create separation between themselves and other teams in the Big Ten.
Michigan is thirteenth in the nation in points per game at 37.3 points per game, while Iowa averages a pedestrian 25.7 points per game (87th-most in the nation) this season.
Senior running back Hasan Haskins has been phenomenal this season and looked like one of the best backs in the country.
He’s the second-leading rusher in the Big Ten, behind only Kenneth Walker III (Michigan State). Haskins has recorded 1,232 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, averaging five yards per carry.
Kicker Jake Moody has been dynamite kicking the football, recording 22 made field goals this season, 50 extra points, giving him 116 points on the season — eighth-most in college football this season.
Junior quarterback Cade McNamara has done a great job of taking care of the football, surrendering just three interceptions all year long — tied for third-fewest in all of college football.
