3. Chip Kelly

Ths is the second name on this list that Oregon football fans probably won’t love, at least some of them, but as Brady Hoke showed us in 2021, some coaches are just a perfect fit in some places.

Hoke didn’t look like he would ever succeed as a head coach after he left Michigan. He had some stops as a defensive assistant but then, the chance to return to San Diego State came about and it was ideal for both sides.

Maybe the same thing could happen with Chip Kelly and Oregon.

Yes, Kelly finally put together an 8-4 season with the Bruins and there are rumors (and crystal ball projections) that could have Spencer Rattler joining him in Los Angeles.

But does Chip really believe UCLA can beat USC when its at its best?

He shouldn’t, because the Bruins can’t. USC will always be the football school in LA and UCLA will always be about basketball.

Kelly knows that. Oregon also knows what he can do and even after some of his struggles at UCLA and in the NFL, he can still recruit and would do well in Eugene.

The Ducks shouldn’t worry about the past, or rather, they should focus on the past that includes Kelly leading them to Pac-12 championships and a national title berth.
