3 reasons to watch Tennessee vs Purdue in the Music City Bowl 2021
Will Heupel end his first season on a high note with a Music City Bowl 2021 win?
If the Vols can win the Music City Bowl, they’ll finish the season on a three-game winning streak and become winners of four out of their last five games.
That would provide even more optimism and enthusiasm that Heupel has generated in year one as the head Vol. The only real misstep this season was a frustrating loss at home to a then-unranked Pittsburg team that served as a coming-out party for Heisman Trophy finalist Kenny Pickett
Tennessee got a ranked win over Kentucky late in the season, which helped fans rationalize losing four games against Top 25 teams.
But, as most college football fans know, the SEC is a behemoth and ripe with ranked teams. Four of the team’s five losses were against No. 11 Florida, No. 13 Ole Miss, No. 4 Alabama, and No. 1 Georgia.
They came very close to knocking off Ole Miss, but couldn’t overcome questionable officiating and a raucous home crowd that paused the game due to fans throwing trash on the field.
A win in the Music City Bowl will give Heupel that extra push into the offseason to get Rocky Top buzzing heading into year two of Josh Heupel.
