The pressure won’t be too much

Talent and experience are two really good attributes to have at quarterback and Thompson has both in spades. He spent four years in a very competitive environment in Texas and even last year, after losing the starting job, he stuck with it and earned it, instead of leaving right away.

But being the Nebraska quarterback isn’t going to be too much for him to handle. That’s another key thing about this addition because make no mistake, it’s a job that comes with pressure.

Frost spent four years trying to develop Adrian Martinez into the kind of quarterback the Huskers needed to win. There just was no consistency and always, the wrong mistake at the wrong time.

Thompson isn’t perfect. But he should be an upgrade and at the very least, he has a chance to bring stability to the position and the Huskers over the next two years if he’s successful.
