Georgia’s mental block

If Georgia doesn’t win the national championship this year then it will simply have to tip its cap because it will have had two chances to finally beat Alabama.

Kirby Smart has done everything at Georgia but beat Nick Saban. He did win the SEC championship and this is his team’s second trip to the national title game but the Bulldogs don’t want to become the Buffalo Bills — go every year and lose.

Yet, this matchup sort of feels like the Bills-Cowboys of the 1990s. Buffalo had legendary teams — championship teams. Georgia does too but it just can’t seem to get over the hump.

It also feels like Michigan-Ohio State. In that regard, Georgia fans might feel some hope. The Wolverines finally beat the Buckeyes in 2021. But that was on their home field. It’s different on a neutral field and for the national championship.

Georgia played as well as it has all season against Michigan. But Alabama is a different animal and Georgia can’t bully the Tide like it can everyone else.

And as good as Georiga has looked in the other 13 games and frankly it has looked like one of the greatest college football teams ever against everyone but Alabama, unfortunately for the Bulldogs, the Crimson Tide are the opponent in Indy and until we see Georgia do it, you have to give the edge to Bama.
