3. Austin Stogner: from Oklahoma to South Carolina

Former Oklahoma tight end Austin Stogner has two distinctions being on this list. First, Stogner was the best tight end in the transfer total. Second,  he helped get former Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler to Columbia, South Carolina.

Stogner is a welcomed addition to the tight-end corps as they lost senior Nick Muse to graduation and redshirt freshman Keveon Mullins to the transfer portal. That leaves the Gamecocks with just two tight ends, Traevon Kenion and Jaheim Bell, with any practical game experience.

Stogner also comes from a program with a winning pedigree; that is an intangible that goes a long way when building a program. The Gamecocks had success last season with some key transfers and hope to use the portal again.

Stogner is a big, versatile tight end. He can play inline or split to block in either the run game or max protect in the passing game. Stogner is a plus add in the red zone with his ability to put space between himself, the defender, and the ball.

Head coach Shane Beamer will like the edge Stogner plays with. He’s a tight end who can run routes and catch like a receiver but plays ornery like an offensive lineman.
