Notre Dame Football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2022
In what is sure to be the blockbuster game of the week on the opening week of the season, Notre Dame will make a rare trip to Ohio State. Both teams are going to be ranked highly to start the season and will have the eyes of the country looking upon them. It will also be a chance for Freeman to return to the place where he played college football.
Ohio State is going to have one of the best offenses in college football next season and probably the best one. Heisman Trophy finalist C.J. Stroud returns with running back TreVeyon Henderson and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba to lead the Buckeyes. It is hard to see Notre Dame going on the road with a new quarterback and winning this game, but it should be close.
Final Score: Notre Dame 35, Ohio State 38 (0-1)
After losing the opener, Notre Dame is going to need to bounce back with a win at home over Marshall. The Thundering Herd have been contenders in Conference USA for the last two seasons but may take a step back in 2022. Talented quarterback Grant Wells decided to transfer to Virginia Tech and he will be tough to replace.
Expect Notre Dame to win this game comfortably. They will need a win after their opening week loss and they should get it against this Thundering Herd squad.
Final Score: Notre Dame 38, Marshall 17 (1-1)
