Tennessee Football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2022
Like last season, Tennessee is going to open up their season in Knoxville against a team from the MAC. Instead of playing Bowling Green, the Volunteers are going to be playing Ball State, the team that won the conference in 2020. The Cardinals made it back to a bowl game in 2021 and were a good team.
Going to Knoxville is going to be too tough of a task, however. The Volunteers are going to be too tough to stop and Ball State is going to be going back to Muncie empty-handed. Look for Tenessee to try and put up some style points in this one.
Final Score: Tennessee 48, Ball State 15 (1-0)
You might not remember this game unless you’re a fan of these teams, but Tennessee and Pitt played in one of the best games in 2021. Panthers quarterback Kenny Pickett played a great game and was able to win a shootout in Knoxville. Pickett is no longer at Pitt and is off to the NFL and will be replaced with former USC quarterback Kedon Slovis who has been a solid starter before but could not rediscover his consistency after 2019.
Pitt is going to return one of the best receivers in the country in Jordan Addison, who could give the Tennessee defense some trouble. Tenessee is going to find a way to overcome Addison and will get a big victory on the road.
Final Score: Tennessee 45, Pitt 34 (2-0)
