Tennessee Football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2022
For the final two games of the season, Tennessee is going to have to go on the road and get a pair of SEC East victories. The first one is going to have to come against South Carolina. The Gamecocks had a nice 2021 season, going 7-6 and winning a bowl game. There is momentum in Columbia under Shane Beamer and Gamecock fans expect improvement in 2022.
There is going to be a new quarterback under center for South Carolina in 2022. Oklahoma transfer Spencer Rattler is going to be taking over the position and hopes to regain his form that many had him pegged as a Heisman Trophy contender. South Carolina will be able to score with Tennessee, but the Volunteers win in a shootout.
Final Score: Tennessee 38, South Carolina 35 (7-4, 3-4)
For the final game of the season, Tennessee is going to travel to Knoxville to take on their in-state rival Vanderbilt. The Commodores had a rough debut season for head coach Clark Lea and are hoping that a solid recruiting class and some transfers are going to make this a more competitive team in 2022.
Vanderbilt has the right man in Lea to turn this program around and make them competitive, but it might be another year before those results are seen. Tennessee ends the season on a high note and gets a victory over their rival.
Final Score: Tennessee 45, Vanderbilt 16 (8-4, 4-4)
