Sam Pittman’s Razorback tenure has been a massive success thus far, building a solid program from the disaster zone that was Chad Morris’s Arkansas football team. 2021’s Razorbacks finished with nine wins in a perpetually competitive SEC West, and have a solid foundation for the future.

Sustaining momentum with Arkansas football in modern times is difficult. With not much in-state talent, and having to raid the hyper-competitive state of Texas, as well as a traditional tiger’s den in Louisiana for recruits, it’s hard on just those two accounts. Put a team like that in the best division in college football, and the difficulty increases exponentially.

But, with players like KJ Jefferson, Treylon Burks, and linebackers Bumper Pool and Hayden Henry, the road gets easier. Of course, some of those players are gone; Burks, the best wide receiver prospect in years, is off to make NFL corners look as foolish as college corners. So too is Henry, who seemed to be everywhere the ball was on defense last season.

Thankfully for the Hogs, Jefferson is back, as is Bumper Pool, who led the team in tackles. Stud safety Jalen Catalon comes back too, after being injured last year. Arkansas football has also been active in the transfer portal, adding former Oklahoma receiver Jadon Hazelwood, as well as LSU defensive transfers Landon Jackson and Dwight McGlothern. Drew Sanders, a top rotational Bama linebacker, comes to Fayetteville too.

Arkansas’ schedule in 2022 is tough, but they’ve got the talent to make hay out of it.
