Arkansas does a double-dip of non-Power Five powers by going on the road to take on BYU. The Cougars don’t have Tyler Allgeier, their 1,601 rushing yard, 23 rushing touchdown back from a year ago. They don’t have four-year starter James Empey at center either. However, they bring back a lot, including quarterback Jaren Hall, leading receiver Puka Nacua, and their leading tackler in Ben Bywater. Oregon transfer Kingsley Suamataia is a top 5 portal player who provides immediate production at offensive tackle. A tough ask for the Hogs here, and it results in a loss.

Final score: BYU 30, Arkansas 24 (Arkansas moves to 4-3, 2-2 in conference)

A useful bye week appears, and then it’s divisional foe Auburn on the road. Headman Bryan Harsin’s first year on the plains was a mixed bag, and there’s already some trouble. Auburn legacy Bo Nix transferred to Oregon this offseason, and offensive coordinator Austin Davis is resigning mere weeks after taking the job. The Tigers bring in Zach Calzada from A&M, but it’s unlikely to be enough even at home. Arkansas wins close.

Final score: Arkansas 38, Auburn 34 (Arkansas moves to 5-3, 3-2 in conference)
