USC Football: Way-too-Early Game-by-Game Predictions for 2022
One of many things that former head coach Clay Helton did not do often enough was able to beat the Cal Golden Bears. That is simply unacceptable at USC, as Cal is viewed as USC’s little brother and Trojans fans will tell you that they don’t like to lose to Cal.
It was a tough 2021 season in Berkeley for head coach Justin Wilcox. The team dealt with a lot of issues and never seemed to really get on track. This is a program that prides itself on good defense under Wilcox and they hope to get back to that. Look for Cal to have a bounce-back season, but it won’t be good enough to beat USC.
Final Score: USC 40, Cal 18 (8-1, 6-1)
After getting a victory over their in-state rivals, USC football will stay in Los Angeles to play the Colorado Buffaloes. Colorado had a surprise season in 2020 under head coach Karl Dorell, but they fell back down to earth in 2021. The offense was a disaster for most of the season and the Buffaloes are having to deal with a lot of their best playmakers on offense transferring.
This is going to be a very tough game for Colorado to win. The hope would be that they could catch USC looking ahead to games against UCLA and Notre Dame, but that is not likely. The Trojans will roll in this one.
Final Score: USC 45, Colorado 10 (9-1, 7-1)
