Miami Football: Way-too-early 2022 game-by-game predictions
Miami usually faces Duke at the end of the season. However, the scheduling got a bit of a shakeup and these two division rivals will be facing off in mid-October instead. Miami has blown the Blue Devils out in their last two meetings and might be doing so yet again in 2022.
While David Cutcliffe did decide to retire, it is going to take a little bit to get the Duke football program back to the levels where it is competing. The school hired Texas A&M defensive coordinator Mike Elko to replace Cutcliffe and they hope he will make the team competitive again. This will be another season in which the Blue Devils are stuck at the bottom of the division.
Final Score: Miami 45, Duke 7 (6-1, 3-0)
Another team in the ACC Coastal that is undergoing a coaching change is the Virginia Cavaliers. Bronco Mendenhall resigned after the season and the program decided to hire Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott who has been one of the better offensive coordinators in the country and was a key part of the national championships that the Tigers have won.
However, this Virginia team could be really bad in 2022. While star quarterback Brennan Armstrong returns, the Cavaliers are losing a lot on the offensive line and their defense is probably not going to be good. This is going to be a transition year for the team and probably a tough one.
Final Score: Miami 38, Virginia 13 (7-1, 4-0)
