Geoff Collins is not having a fun time as Georgia Tech head coach. After Paul Johnson retired in 2018, the Yellow Jackets hired Collins from Temple, and have promptly gone 9-25 since.

Jahmyr Gibbs, their 1,211 scrimmage yard-producing running back in 2021, is off to Alabama. Gone, too, is talented defensive lineman Jared Ivey, who will suit up for Ole Miss in 2022. Doesn’t exactly help that two of their top defenders in linebacker Quez Jackson and safety Juanyeh Thomas are off to the NFL either.

Ole Miss crushes the Jackets in Atlanta.

Final score: Ole Miss 45, Georgia Tech 17 (3-0)

Coming back home, the Rebels get Tulsa in their final non-conference matchup. Golden Hurricane head coach Phil Montgomery probably saved his job last year by winning four straight to end the year after starting 3-6.

However, 1,029-yard rusher Shamari Brooks is gone, as is 1,087-yard receiver Josh Johnson. Big-time defensive lineman Jaxon Player also leaves, but to Baylor to play for his coach’s former school. In the end, it’s an Ole Miss win.

Final score: Ole Miss 48, Tulsa 20 (4-0)
