Following a trip to Baton Rouge with a trip to College Station to face Texas A&M feels illegal, but for Ole Miss, that’s the reality. Way too early rankings by various media sites have A&M at least in the top six nationally, if not higher. For a program that’s lost four all-SEC performers and counts Max Johnson as their top transfer, that preseason hype seems to be a stretch.

Still, though, A&M at Kyle Field is actual torture, and there are enough high-end athletes for A&M to pull out a victory.

Final score: Texas A&M 34, Ole Miss 30 (7-2, 3-2)

A bye week passes, and then it’s Alabama. Bama has lost six All-SEC performers from last year’s squad, but bring back Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young and national sack leader Will Anderson.

Linebackers Henry To’o To’o and Jordan Battle return as well, while transfers in running back Jahmyr Gibbs from Georgia Tech and receiver Jermaine Burton from Georgia plug offensive holes.

There’s just too much talent for Ole Miss to deal with, and it’s a third consecutive loss.

Final score: Alabama 45, Ole Miss 27 (7-3, 3-3)
