Juco Javier Morton

With the losses of Cam Taylor-Britt, Deontai Williams, and Marquel Dismuke, Nebraska football has some work to do in the secondary and one guy who’s going to help with that is JUCO transfer Javier Morton.

Morton is ranked as the No. 20 overall JUCO in the 2022 class by 247 sports and is a three-star recruit just like he was in high school when he got offers from a slew of SEC schools.

After a year in JUCO, Morton has played well and is ready to take his chance at the FBS level. The Huskers have added some defensive backs to the roster via the transfer portal and they will be in the mix too such as Omar Brown, an FCS transfer with an impressive resume. He’s going to see the field but I have a hunch Martin will too.

Martin is listed as a safety but here’s what he told 247 sports about what his role could be next season:

"“They just want me to be that change. I’m coming in there as a boundary corner and want to do special teams. I want to do kick returns and punt returns. I just really want to be part of the change. I know I can succeed at Nebraska and come out of there and get drafted high.”"

Martin is a guy who can play on special teams and compete for playing time at cornerback right away. He also knows safety and with essentially three starting jobs and tons of snaps available, I have my eye on Martin to make an early impact.
