Running Back

Starter: Jaylan Knighton

Backup: Don Chaney Jr

The running back room is one where Miami football has plenty of depth to it. The guy primed to have a big breakout season is Jaylan Knighton. Knighton was a former blue-chip recruit who has shown flashes during his time at Miami but has not put together a full season.

He possesses great speed and the ability to change direction. His receiving is also pretty good for a running back. Look for Gattis to use Knighton similarly to Michigan running back Donovan Edwards, as they have similar skill sets.

The backup spot is going to be interesting. Don Chaney Jr is also a former top recruit, but he is coming off of a serious knee injury. He should be ready for the season, but it is unclear how effective he will be.

Cristobal wanted to make sure he had depth in this position. He went out and landed Ole Miss transfer Henry Parrish Jr and got a big recruiting win by landing four-star back TreVonte Citizen. Both are talented players that could factor in some this season.

Some guys that played last year, Thad Franklin and Cody Brown, could be factors but could be the odd men out due to a new coaching staff.
