Alabama Football: Way-too-early 2022 depth chart projection
Wide Receiver
Starting Z receiver: Ja’Corey Brooks
Backup: Traeshon Holden
Starting slot receiver: JoJo Earle
Backup: Christian Leary
Starting X reciever: Jermaine Burton
Backup: Agiye Hall
This is a talented group, but one that is largely unproven. They are going to get a big boost with the addition of Burton from Georgia and he is going to try and replace the speed that Jameson Williams brought last season. The only question is that he has never been a top option before. The potential is there however and Jermaine Burton should be fine.
The other outside receiver is going to be Ja’Corey Brooks. He had his moments as a freshman last season but was also inconsistent. He was huge in the game against Auburn and made some plays against Cincinnati in the playoff, but struggled a bit in the game against Georgia. He might be the Crimson Tide’s most talented receiver and will look to put it all together in 2022.
The slot receiver is going to be interesting. The favorite for the job is going to be the 2021 blue-chip recruit, JoJo Earle who has great speed and can stretch the field vertically and could be the breakout star on Alabama in 2022.
The backups are talented but largely unproven. Agiye Hall is going to need to step up this season. Traeshon Holden brings the most experience and should see the lineup plenty. Guys like Christian Leary and Shazz Preston are hoping to make an impact and be a difference-maker.
