Defensive Line

Starting defensive ends: Zach Harrison, J.T. Tuimoloau
Backups: Jack Sawyer, Javonte Jean-Baptiste

Starting defensive tackles: Taron Vincent, Jerron Cage
Backups: Tyleik Williams, Ty Hamilton

This will be one of the most talented position groups that Ohio State is going to have on defense this season. It could be one of the best defensive lines in the country if some of the young talent takes a step forward. The defensive line will be missing Tyreke Smith and Haskell Garrett, but there is enough talent in Columbus that they should be replaced with ease.

At defensive end, Zach Harrison is back for yet another season and he will be the leader and veteran up front. Harrison might not be the player some thought he would be coming out of high school, but he is a very solid defensive end. Former five-star recruits J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer should see field plenty this fall. Those guys could be the next great Ohio State pass rushers, much like the Bosa brothers and Chase Young.

On the interior, Taron Vincent is back for another season and hopes to put it all together finally. Vincent has been good for the Buckeyes but has not quite lived up to his talent level. Jerron Cage is returning for his sixth year of eligibility and brings plenty of experience to the Buckeyes defensive line.

Tyleik Williams played a lot as a freshman and should be the first rotation player in. Ty Hamilton is the other guy that should factor into the defensive line rotation.
