USC Football: Way-too-early 2022 depth chart projection
Quarterback
Starter: Caleb Williams
Backup: Miller Moss OR Mo Hasan
This is pretty straightforward. Caleb Williams was the most coveted player in the transfer portal and one of the most talented quarterbacks in the country.
When he took over for Oklahoma last season, the offense instantly improved because of the playmaking ability that Williams had through the air and on the ground. He already has a year under his belt of knowing Riley’s offense and will be able to elevate the Trojan’s offense this season. It cannot be understated how big of a difference Williams coming to USC makes for the program.
The backup situation could be one to follow. Miller Moss was a four-star recruit in the 2021 class but only started one game last season and was behind former quarterbacks Kedon Slovis and Jaxson Dart. Moss is talented, but with Williams in the fold for two seasons and five-star quarterback Malachi Nelson on the way in 2023, Moss could opt to transfer. If Moss transfers, then the backup job would go to Mo Hasan.
