10. vs. Boston College (W)

If I ever needed a real-world example of the term “buzzkill”, I would present this game.

Nothing personal against Boston College, but the Eagles heading into Carter-Finley in the middle of a brutal final month of regular-season battles for North Carolina State is forgettable at best. Whoever actually travels to this game to root for BC won’t be there long.

11. at Louisville (L)

This matchup won’t just result in an upset, it will be one of the biggest upsets of the 2022 regular season.

A 9-1 NC State will head into Louisville to face the formidable-but-not-great Cardinals and lose in a total dog match. Similarly to the Clemson game, a change of stadium would maybe result in a change of outcome. But being on the road while looking ahead to rivalry week will be enough to do the Wolfpack in.

12. at North Carolina (L)

Speaking of rough losses, this one just might be the most painful for NC State to handle. An upset defeat at Louisville is bad enough, but this will have been the game that the Pack was looking forward to at the time of their loss to the Cardinals, and it was all just for them to lose it anyway.

UNC has one of the ACC’s best 2022 recruiting classes, Chapel Hill is a bloodbath for road teams, and Tar Heels head coach Mack Brown has one of the best IQs in the game. Nothing looks to be in the Wolfpack’s favor here.

After an amazing 9-1 start, the North Carolina State will blow their last two matchups and fall to an upsetting-but-still-admirable 9-3 regular-season record. They will make — and potentially win — another respectable bowl game, but sadly do nothing more.
