North Carolina football is going to get to open up its season in week zero against an FCS opponent in Florida A&M. This should be as easy of an opener as the Tar Heels could ask for. This game is going to be about leaving with everyone healthy and the newcomers getting plenty of reps.

For a team that is going to be breaking in a new quarterback and a new starting running back. This should be an easy tuneup for the rest of the schedule and the Tar Heels will be able to name their number in this one.

Final Score: North Carolina 70, Florida A&M 7 (1-0)

Pick Analysis. Sept 3. Boone, NC. player. 2393. Scouting Report. Appalachian State Mountaineers. 2

This is quite an interesting road trip for the Tar Heels. App State has been one of the best teams in the group of five ranks and should be once again this season. They are dealing with some coaching turnover, namely offensive coordinator Frank Ponce leaving for a spot on Miami’s staff. The Mountaineers have built a great culture of a program and have either upset or nearly upset other power five programs in the past. In fact, they upset North Carolina in 2019.

For a team that is breaking in a new quarterback and running back with a shaky offensive line, App State may have a shot to win this one at home in Boone. However, the talent gap between the two teams is big enough that North Carolina finds a way to win a close one.

Final Score: North Carolina 34, App State 31 (2-0)
