Wisconsin Football: Way-too-Early Game Predictions for 2022
After losing to Ohio State on the road, the Badgers are going to be coming home to face Big Ten West foe Illinois. This game is interesting from a few angles, but none more so than this being a game in which Illinois head coach Bret Bielema faces his former school. Bielema was a great coach for Wisconsin and it is always interesting when coaches face former teams.
Illinois outperformed expectations in year one, but it is still going to be tough to take on Wisconsin in Madison. Wisconsin will slowly win this game as Illinois will be unable to score when on offense.
Final Score: Wisconsin 31, Illinois 7 (4-1, 1-1)
After taking down Illinois, Wisconsin football is going to have to go on the road to take on what might be the worst team in the Big Ten in 2022. After winning the Big Ten West in 2020, Northwestern took a massive step back in 2021.
The defense fell off of a cliff and the offense was still inefficient, even if they were better at throwing the ball. Brandon Joseph, the Wildcats’ best player, also decided to transfer to Notre Dame. It has not been a good offseason in Evanston.
Wildcats head coach Pat Fitzgerald always does a good job of getting the most out of his team, but it is going to be a challenge this season. Wisconsin will win this game big.
Final Score: Wisconsin 41, Northwestern 10 (5-1, 2-1)
