Zach Evans

One of the weapons who will help at the Rebels quarterback is Zach Evans. Evans is a former five-star recruit who spent his first two seasons at TCU before transferring to Ole Miss. In those two seasons, Evans was able to put up great stats. He finished his TCU career with 1,036 rushing yards, 10 total touchdowns, and 206 receiving yards.

The Rebels are losing their three most productive running backs and Evans is the perfect playmaker for the Rebels after losing Jerrion Ealy.

Like Evans, Ealy was great in the running and passing game. He was a home-run threat and also has great hands and could catch passes out of the backfield. Evans will be able to replace the production of Ealy, who was the first choice back.

Along with Ealy, the Rebels are losing Snoop Connor and Henry Parrish Jr. The three backs all had over 500 yards rushing and accounted for 21 of Ole Miss’ touchdowns. With all three gone and little depth at the poison, Evans will be primary back day one.

With all the big plays through the air and great receivers over the seasons, Ole Miss is a run-first team.

Last year they had 588 rushing attempts compared to the 429 passing attempts. The Rebels lean on their run game to open up the passing game. The team runs a lot of RPOs (Run Pass Option). Evans will get the touches he wants and have a chance to show his talent running the ball.

Evans has big-play ability and is a threat to score on any run. His two longest runs are 75 yards and 51 yards. Ole Miss enjoys scoring on big plays and ripped off big runs for scores last season. Expect Evans to do the same next year.

The TCU transfer is one of the top running backs in the country. Playing in an offense like the Rebels, he will be crucial to the team’s success and will put up big numbers next season.
