Running Back

Starter: John Emery

Backup: Noah Cain

This is a position that is admittedly hard to project. There are some talented players and transfers, but no clear-cut starter as of right now. That should be cleared up by the time spring practice ends.

While he missed all of the 2021 season with academic issues, John Emery is the most talented running back on the LSU roster. Emery is a former-five star recruit and was supposed to be the next great LSU back. If he is bought in and has his other issues solved, it could be a breakout season for Emery.

If Emery is not ready to be the lead back, it might be Penn State transfer, Noah Cain. Cain is very talented but has struggled to stay healthy during his college career. At the least, Cain will be a short-yardage option and a goal-line type of back.

Corey Kiner and Armoni Goodwin are two young guys to watch this season as well.
