Wide Receiver

Starting X Receiver: Marvin Mims

Backup: Cody Jackson

Starting Z Receiver: Theo Wease

Backup: Trevon West

Starting Slot Receiver: Drake Stoops

Backup: Jalil Farooq

Oklahoma football took a bit of a hit at this position after the season. Mario Williams and Jadon Haselwood, two of Oklahoma’s best last season, decided to enter the transfer portal and went to other schools. There are still talented wide receivers for the Sooners on the roster, but the depth might be the thing in question.

Oklahoma dodged a bullet when Marvin Mims decided not to enter the portal. Mims seemed to be mulling his future after the bowl game but decided to stay in Norman for another season. He is the most talented of the receivers and one of the best in the country when healthy.

Theo Wease is slated to be the other receiver opposite of Mims. Wease entered the portal after the season, but he also opted to stay with the program. Wease did not get to play much last season due to injury, but he is talented and will form a great duo with Mims.

Drake Stoops is a former walk-on but has found a nice place for himself in the offense. He is an effective playmaker from the slot and reliable in catching the football. Nothing special athletically about him, but he gets the job done.

For backups, look for Cody Jackson, Trevon West, and Jalil Farooq to be the main contributors besides the starters. These guys contributed minimally last season, but are going to be asked to take a much bigger role, considering how much Oklahoma will spread the ball out and throw it.
