UCLA Football: Way-too-early 2-deep depth chart projection for 2022
Wide Receiver
Starting X receiver: Jake Bobo
Backup: Jadyn Marshall
Starting Z receiver: Kam Brown
Backup: Kazmeir Allen
Starting slot: Logan Loya
Backup: Josiah Norwood
UCLA is going to have to do their best to replace their top wide receiver in Kyle Phillips who was the most consistent receiver on the team last year and will be picked in this year’s NFL Draft. The Bruins do bring back some experienced players and some transfers that will help ease the loss.
One of the starting outside receivers is likely to be Duke transfer Jake Bobo. Bobo had a solid season with the Blue Devils in 2021, totaling nearly 800 yards receiving and averaging nearly 11 yards per catch. Bobo might not be spectacular, but he brings experience and size at the position.
Kam Brown was a dependable guy last season but is going to be taking on a bigger role this season. It is not a guarantee that Brown is the other starting outside receiver. Kazmeir Allen is the leading returning receiver and that will be an interesting battle. Logan Loya is the projected starter in the slot, but he only had two catches last season. One name to keep an eye on is UCF transfer Titus Mokiao-Atimalala. He will push for playing time amongst the less experienced guys.
